Are sew in extensions damaging to hair?

I have an apt to have sew in extensions put in tomorrow. I was just wondering if I should cancel or not. Anyone else have a bad experience or not?

Are sew in extensions damaging to hair?

Hair extension can be great for your hair, they give your actual hair a rest and time to grow. It can be a bad experience if you don't have a clean scalp to begin with and don't take care of your scalp while they are in. It can also be bad if the stylist braids your hair too tightly.

Simply take care of your scalp before and during the time you are wearing the extensions and you will be fine.

they are not damaging but they can be very painful because they are swen in and can cut off some of the blood suppy to that part of your head. I would get the kind you glue in.

depends on the sensativity of your scalp...dont let the stylist braid to tight of use synthetic hair that feels like plastic....that will break your natural hair off............make sure the stylist has experience in different techniques of braiding.......if not!....run out that chair!

good luck

oh my friend had that done.. they looked very nice but, on her scalp it got like irritated and bumpy, and really incredibly itchy. she'd have strands of hair falling out often too.. also, i think it like pulled out some of her real hair or made it where she had to cut it off.. not totally sure this was back in like january or feb.. so yeah me personally i dont think i would ever get em cuz there super expensive too.. but yeah in the end its all up to yyou.

Are sew in extensions damaging to hair?

Yes, it is damaging to your hair and the hairdresser will have you sign a piece of paper, releasing him/her from any damage. Don't have her use any glue or heat either, because this is very damaging as well. There is a technique out there, which they use little small cylinders and attache the fake hair to your natural hair and there is no heat or glue involved. It is more expensive, but not damaging to your hair. I believe it is called hair locks.

No they are not, but their effin painful, and they dont last very long hun.

I once have half sew in and half glue in, and the glue ruined my hair, the girl put so much glue in it, when I took the extensions out, there was still glue in my hair. Everday, I was combing out like little clumps of hair, sooo gross. The sew in, I didn't like either, just because my head fell heavy, I'm just not the kind of person who lieks extensions, so I chose to just grow my hair out. It's a little past my shoulders :) so im getting there!
