First you probably need to take the extensions out and start doing conditioning treatments on your hair to get it in good shape. Regular trims and not alot of excessive heat will help. Hair grows on average 1/2 inch a month so it will take time but just make sure you take care of it.

I didn't try this technique so I'm not saying it works. I do think it gives some good tips on how to keep curly/kinky hair from breaking off. A lot of people think curly/kinky hair doesn't grow. It does but due to mishandling and over processing, it experiences a lot of breakage.

I think your goal of 3 feet is a little out there. Not to say it can't happen but, how about starting with a small attainable goal so you don't get discouraged.
